Heightened security

If you live in Africa, security concern becomes part of your life. Obviously, security is major concern to anyone no matter where we live. It comes in different forms though.

We are in our third year here in Kenya, first year or so I have never felt scared or concerned about my children's or our well being. Of course we always have taken our precautions when we go out, such as not going out after dark, locking our doors, not carrying expensive/out there accessories, being aware of our surroundings and much more. But lately, there has been a significantly increased number of terrorism activities in all over Kenya. And these threats are not for specific people with specific backgrounds, it is for everyone who lives here. We get security alert emails from our embassies almost everyday now. It does concern me a lot, but at the same time life goes on. We all still have to go to our works, drop off our children at school, do shopping, meet with our friends, enjoy a day out and relax.

Please be aware of your surroundings, take an extra caution when you go out, stay away from crowded places and roads.

STAY SAFE.
